Gisborne Western Bypass unlikely to proceed

by dhewitt » Wed May 08, 2024 8:01 pm

A lot of the traffic in Gisborne is actually through traffic from the north to Bacchus Marsh (and beyond) or Melton, and similar traffic in the opposite direction. It is particularly noticeable at the Robertson/Aitken Street roundabout at certain times throughout the day, and only destined to get worse. A recent traffic study report to council by Cardno, an environmental consulting services company, recommended a bypass to the west of Gisborne, but a proposed major subdivision on Ross Watt Road looks like thwarting that opportunity.
